This article provides a software safety analysis method to help practitioners comply with ISO 26262–6 in Agile software development. International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standard 26262–6 section 7 requires that a specific safety–oriented analysis should be conducted on a software architecture to fulfill certain objectives. FPTN is more of a notation technique by which no exhaustive analysis can be conducted. Petri net analysis is suitable for BaseTech software but is unsuitable for application software because of increased complexity. Analyzing data flows that are less clear requires much more effort, which may be unaffordable in Agile development.
