The importance of the study of history in the education of people of every age and social class is well established and recognised; as Marc Bloch wrote back in 1967, “The misunderstanding of the present arises from ignorance of the past. But it is also true that one cannot understand the past if one does not know the present”. Retrieving one's history is basically the most suitable way to become aware of one's identity, and therefore retrieve one's sense of belonging. Therefore, it is important that we approach with enthusiasm the history of the Mediterranean, the sea where one of the great Mediterranean islands, Sardinia, finds its natural location; at the same time, it is important that we understand our story, the one that belongs to us through the centuries and of which we are the real protagonists.
