The aim of this work is to present different methodological approaches and technological resources that facilitate and increase students' motivation, performance and learning, and that, ultimately, improve the quality of the methods used to teach and learn history. The conclusions drawn from the results of the numerous studies carried out are that active methodologies lead to positive learning outcomes and that ICT is a powerful contributory factor in this result. For this to happen, teachers must be highly motivated and well–trained and educational institutions must have the capacity to facilitate these processes.
